My school's name was St Gregory's. It was (still is!) a Catholic school.
For reception (that's first year of school in England), my teacher's name
was Miss Cantillon.
For middle infants (second year), my teacher's name was Miss Bennett.
For top infants (third year), my teacher's name was Miss O'Rourke.
I spent two months in junior one (fourth year), and my teacher's name was
Miss Charlesworth.
For the whole time there (and in fact, still today!) my headmaster was Mr Carson. I went back to St Greg's in September of 1994, and he still remembered me. I'm not sure if that's good or not!
For fourth grade, my teacher was Ms Y
I also participated in many sports at school. My favourites were
volleyball and softball. I also played basketball (but wasn't very good at
it). I struggled at sports because I was two years younger than everyone
else I was playing with.
I had two principals while I was at the school. The first (and nicer)
was Sister Mary Ann. The second (and not so nice) was Sister Mary Therese
Ann (no joke, they were sisters, blood sisters).
Some of the subjects I took at school were: Algebra I/II, Geometry,
Pre-Calculus, Latin I, II, III, Introductory Physical Science, Biology,
Chemistry, American History, World History, Honors English, American
Literature, British Literature, Physical Education, Health, Typing,
Computer Science. My homeroom teachers were Sister Marguerite (9th grade),
someone else who's name escapes me for 10th grade, and Sister Mary Therese
(aka "Sister Chemistry") for 11th grade.
During my freshman year at Lumen, a swim team was formed. I joined up
immediately. I swam competitively in freestyle, backstroke, and breast
stroke. I was on the swim team for the three years I was at Lumen and
earned a letter each year. I also participated in volleyball during my
junior year.
Apart from sports, I participated other extra-curricular activities. I was
in the stage crew as well as acted in the play "Joy" (Christmas play)
during my freshman year. I starved myself for charity in the annual
Hunger-A-Thon for two years. I was a Clown Of Heart (Lumen Cordium is
Latin for "Light Of Hearts") during my sophomore and junior years,
including a two week trip to Kentucky to do charity work in the
Appalachians. I was also a scorekeeper and statistician for the basketball
and volleyball team (when I wasn't playing the latter, I never played the
former in high school).
Lumen Cordium closed due to falling enrollment. The announcement was made
in March of 1987 (my junior year). At the time, the school had ~270
students, was about to lose 90 seniors to graduation, and was only
expecting an incoming freshman class of 20 or thereabouts.
I had a rather light schedule my senior year, at least in terms of
numberof classes. I took Calculus (Mr Gotch), Current Affairs (Mr
Coleman), Religion (Father Cabrita), English (Mr Greene [who was later
fired]), Physics (Mr Gotch, again), American Government (Mr Coleman,
again), and Weightlifting (I was missing a PE credit, so I had to take
this). I also had two study halls.
I participated in volleyball (with my old coach from grade school,
M. Karol Patton), swimming (Coach Bradbeer), basketball scorekeeping, and
the school play (just stage crew) "Anything Goes".
I graduated from Chanel in June of 1988.
I spent 1988-1989 working full time at Revco DS Headquarters. An experience I
would not like to repeat. :-) Corporate America sucks.
I spent most of my time my freshman year learning computers, as opposed to
being in class. This might explain why I was only at UC for one year :-)
I had other friends, and other experiences at UC, so I scanned in a bunch
of old pictures and created the My Year at UC Gallery
. Check it out.
For fifth grade, my homeroom teacher was Sister Mary DePaul
For sixth grade, my homeroom teacher was Mrs Garrett
For seventh grade, my homeroom teacher was Miss Stagliano
For eighth grade, my homeroom teacher was Mrs Archaki
Lumen Cordium High School
283 Union St, Bedford, Ohio
I attended Lumen Cordium for my first three years of high school. At the
conclusion of my third year, the school closed due to lack of enrollment
(leading me to believe that I am cursed when it comes to schools).
Chanel High School
480 Northfield Road, Bedford, Ohio
Chanel High School was an all-boys school up until the 1986-1987 school
year. At that time, it started accepting girls in its freshman (graduating
in 1990) and sophomore (graduating in 1989) years. As a member of the
class of 1988, I did not have the option of transferring from Lumen to
Chanel -- so it was all rather academic, at least until Lumen announced
that they were closing.Probably 55 or 65 of my 85 member class at Lumen
transferred with me to Chanel.
University of Cincinnati
Cincinnati, Ohio
I entered the University of Cincinnati in September of 1989. I was
assigned to Memorial Hall dorm. I was given a triple, in the Tower (the
best room on campus for a freshman, probably). I was assigned two
roommates, Kelly Ptak and Marci
Yesowitch. I was enrolled in the School of Engineering. Kelly wanted
to be a Social Work major, and Marci was an English major.
Cambridge College
Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
I enrolled in the Management Studies program at Cambridge College in the
summer of 1999. I am hoping to complete my studies within a couple of
years.
Other
I have attended several work-related educational courses, including a
recent (fall 1999) one on Oracle databases.
