The flights left on time and arrived early in both cases (schedule padding?). Although Delta Express signs at the terminals said "beverage service only" there was a small snack pack given out to passengers which consisted of a small bag of Goldfish crackers, a Betty Crocker Sweet Escapes Bar, and a "fun sized" Nestle Crunch. While waiting in line for the lav I noticed that this snack pack was only given out on flights to & from BOS, BDL, and PVD.
The FA taking tickets at the gate at Logan was also checking size & numbers of carry on bags (!!!). More than once, she stopped somebody from carrying on something that was too huge, and she made them go back and check it. Yay! Now if only DL would do this on their mainline operations...
They only gave out one cup of drink each. If we wanted more we had to go and ask (which I did). Another cost cutting measure?
MCO is a nice airport. It's the first time I have ever been to Florida, so I had no idea what to expect. Lots of different shops, a la Heathrow.
On the return flight we successfully stood by for an earlier flight than we were booked on. We got two seats together and I sat down to find my seat was wet. Unlike some people (who would just post to rec.travel.air and demand their money back!) I simply asked an FA for some paper napkins. They did one better, and got me two plastic bags and some blankets to sit on.
We were sitting behind two people who had HUGE rollaboard suitcases and were whinging because they wouldn't fit in the overhead bins (!!! - it's only a 737-200!). Even though we had to collect luggage from baggage claim, we *still* beat them to the curb. So what did their rollaboards gain them?
We pushed back late from MCO due to weather but arrived in BOS early due to tailwinds. Even though the weather in BOS was horrible we had a smooth landing.
The majority (if not the entirety) of passengers on the DelEx flights I was on were VFR (Visiting Friends & Relatives) - or perhaps more accurately defined VMM (Visiting Mickey & Minnie :-). I gave Disney (& its assorted associated parks) a miss. Instead, I chose to become a meal for a thousand bugs and ants on Sanibel Island. What fun!
Next Christmas I plan to spend holidays in Northwest Washington. It may not be as warm but I imagine I'll have to visit the doctor for a mysterious rash.
